MS Office - How to keep multiple instances with one as Default

I have came across the situation where I needed to have MS Office 2003 & 2007 both in my system, but that was very teasing that whenever I wanted to open my .xls files they automatically got opened in 2007 engine, although they work fine but some features behave abnormally when if you email these files to anyone who isn't having v2007 installed in his system. So I googled this issue of mine and found a very handy solution to that problem.

Click Start -> Run -> Type in the following command

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Excel.exe" /regserver

This is where my "Excel.exe" (v2003) file is placed you may alter this path as yours inside the quotation and then type /regserver at the end and press enter, It will load the necessary files of that version and next time whenever you wanna open files corresponding to that version they will automatically get opened in the engine that you register through this command.

Show hidden files option is not working in XP

If you come across a situation where your system got infected by a virus which no matter got cleaned by any antivirus program but its aftershocks can be felt in different areas of working, one out of them is that it disables the show hidden files option, you go to control panel -> Folder option -> View -> and select show hidden files and folders and come back and notice that nothing has show yet, you go again and see whats that? that check has automatically revert back to the other option. This is some thing I was referring to the "aftershocks". Now what to do to enable that option?

Follow these below mentioned steps to sort this out:

Start -> Run ->
Type "regedit" without quotes in the window and press enter
Navigate through

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version -> Explorer -> Advanced -> Folder -> Hidden -> SHOWALL

Now on your right side look for a DWORD key named as "CheckedValue".

Delete that key and recreate it with the same name, open it and give it the value 1.

Restart your machine and see for yourself, that option would get its functionality back and your hidden files and folders are now visible whenever you chose to select that option.

Most of the time while installing or choosing a correct download package of any program you fall in the confusion that "Am I using 32-bit OS or 64-bit?".

Default Boot without keyboard attached

Hi!

    It's very simple to boot without keyboard with a Compaq!
    First: enter the bios (F10 key) or whatever your bios may have.
    Second: in 'Security' menu, choose 'Power-On Password', then entre your password (twice)
    Third: a new item in 'Security' menu is added, 'PassWord Options', choose it and 'Enable' the   'Nework Server Mode' item.

    Now it's fine to boot without keyboard (but when you attach a keyboard, you have to enter a password!).

    I hope this can help you!

WHEN YOU ARE DONE
OPEN CMD AND TYPE
shutdown -s
to shutdown the computer remotely :)
